A new book tells the life story of a Black American gay man. This man lived in Paris during World War Two. He risked everything for love.

The book follows his adventurous life in the French capital. He was one of few Black gay expats living there then. His story shows how he sought love in difficult times.

During World War Two, life for gay people was dangerous and secret. For Black gay people, the risks were much greater. Still, he dared to openly pursue his feelings. He entered into relationships.

The book sheds light on a forgotten period in gay history. It shows how people sought love despite war, discrimination and danger.

Such historical stories help us understand how the LGBTQ+ community survived difficult times.
